Stephen Baskerville is Associate Professor of Government at Patrick Henry College and Research Fellow at the Howard Center for Family, Religion, and Society, the Independent Institute, and the Inter-American Institute. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and has taught political science and international affairs at Howard University, Palacky University in the Czech Republic, and most recently as a visiting Fulbright scholar at the Russian National University for the Humanities. He began as a scholar of political theory with an emphasis on religion, and his first book is Not Peace But a Sword: The Political Theology of the English Revolution (Routledge, 1993). More recently, he has turned his full attention to the politics of the family in global perspective, and his most recenty book is Taken Into Custody: The War against Fathers, Marriage, and the Family (Cumberland House, 2007). He has served as president of the American Coalition for Fathers and Children (2005-2007) and serves as managing editor for the International Journal for Religious Freedom. He is currently at work on a book on sexual politics.
Baskerville is widely recognized as “the leading authority” (in the words of columnist Paul Craig Roberts) on the politics of divorce, custody, and family courts.
